Sandy Nicholson

We welcome photographer Sandy Nicholson back to Australia. Sandy is due to launch his new book "2nd, The Face of Defeat" with an accompanying exhibition at Australian Centre for Photography on 12th March (your invitation above). Sandy spent 2 years photographing the runner ups in small local competitions round the world, showcasing the bittersweet moment that we can all relate to when we fall just a little short of our expectations. A candid visual documentary of competition, Sandy Nicholson’s gently ironic images speak to all of us.

HUGH STEWART

Hugh Stewart's portrait of John Cann is a finalist in the National Photographic portrait prize 2009.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize is a slice through Australian photographic portraiture in our own time.

STEPHEN OXENBURY

Also a finalist in the National Photographic portrait prize 2009 is Stephen Oxenbury's portrait of artist Adam Cullen.

CHRIS VON MENGE

SLURPEE

Chris von Menge received a great brief from Leo Burnett Melbourne - find a classic car and take a road trip north.

After sourcing a 1966 Lincoln Continental, despite arriving in near cyclonic conditions, Chris got behind the wheel and set about capturing classic Australian road trip scenery. In keeping with our obsession with all things BIG, like the Big Banana, Pineapple, Prawn, Merino we now have The Big Slurpee!

ROSS HONEYSETT

Congratulations go to Ross Honeysett for winning the 2008 Sydney Life photography competition.

Ross feels that being born and bred in Sydney made it easy to render the city's personality in a photograph.

"I was trying to do the antithesis of Sydney as a blue-skied, blue-watered lady; it's easy to fall into that trap when trying to portray a city like this" he said.
"There's a heart that beats much deeper and it's this aspect that fascinates and inspires me".

"Portraying the impact of a big city on its inhabitants in a "hyper-real" style"

In addition to photographing commercially, Ross is inspired by the world of Fine Arts and you will be seeing much more of his work in this medium.

photography Chris von Menge - Ford G Series

With the picturesque setting of New Zealand's south island, the location scout from 'Lord of the Rings' and photographer, Chris von Menge, the outcome was sure to shine!

Chris recently completed an exquisite series of landscapes for Ford.

Circumnavigating the south island of New Zealand from sunrise to sunset the beautiful series continued back in Australia adding a further two images to the series which have dominated Australian skylines recently.

Another production for Vanity Fair

2c's Executive Producer Amanda Odgers has once again worked with the Vanity Fair crew from New York to produce the Nicole Kidman and Patrick Demarchelier collaboration for the October 2007 issue, shot on Sydney Harbour.

This follows the Star Wars and Russell Crowe issues shoot by Annie Leibovitz. Amanda worked as local producer to co-ordinate the 4 page gatefold cover featuring the entire cast from all five Star Wars films. During Leibovitz visit, we also co-ordinated a cover shoot of Russell at his Nana Glen property.
